Central Library

Overview

The Central Library at the University of Hamdaniya stands as a prominent academic landmark and one of the university’s core departments. It is a scientific and cultural institution dedicated to serving all segments of the community—including researchers, faculty members, and students—by providing them with essential print and electronic information sources, as well as audiovisual materials, while facilitating their seamless use and utility. The Central Library reports directly to the President of the University of Hamdaniya and was established on October 1, 2018, at the main university campus.

Vision

• Continuously striving to establish the library as an evolving, comprehensive repository encompassing all fields of knowledge.

• Constantly provisioning and replenishing the libraries of colleges, institutes, and research centers with the scientific sources and references they require.

• Facilitating information services for all researchers and enabling them to access the required data accurately and easily.

• Maintaining a persistent effort to collect the largest possible volume of accredited sources and references across all scientific and humanitarian disciplines.

Mission

To work tirelessly to secure the vital information services necessary to sustain the educational process and distinct scientific research through the library’s diverse forms and types of information resources. This is conducted in service to all segments of the community, especially as the library works on adopting an integrated automated management system (Koha System). This shift ensures alignment with modern, globally advanced technologies utilized by Iraqi, Arab, and international university libraries. It aims to achieve the desired scientific progress in producing robust, peer-reviewed academic research that elevates knowledge, develops the capabilities of the university’s faculty members, and empowers them to participate in all academic forums—particularly conferences, seminars, and training courses—by acquiring, organizing, and facilitating the use of various information vehicles for university beneficiaries and the public.

Objectives

• Providing robust, comprehensive sources and references across all fields of knowledge, covering diverse subjects and formats in accordance with accredited quality standards of knowledge, thereby meeting the academic needs of all researchers.

• Actively working to establish multiple funding streams to secure a sustainable financial future that feeds the library and enhances its capacity to launch diverse knowledge-based projects.

• Directing the library’s administration toward entering global library rankings and obtaining internationally accredited academic certifications.

• Utilizing distinguished electronic systems across all administrative and academic operations to keep pace with global technological advancements.

• Earnestly seeking to build bridges of communication and partnership with Arab and international universities to elevate the delivery of desired scientific and knowledge-based services.
