niversity President and Director of Intellectual Counter-Terrorism Discuss Combatting Harmful Discourse
University President, Prof. Dr. Nashat Mubarak Saliwa, met with the Director of Intellectual Counter-Terrorism, Mr. Saad Al-Abdali, to discuss confronting discourse harmful to society and unifying efforts to tackle it.
During the meeting held at his office on Sunday morning, May 10, 2026, Dr. Saliwa stated that the university is a vital institution in the fight against extremism. He emphasized its role in spreading a culture of peace and coexistence, rooted in citizenship and a comprehensive sense of national belonging.
For his part, Mr. Al-Abdali affirmed the Directorate’s commitment to involving the university in drafting rhetoric that reinforces security and peace. He added that leveraging academic expertise is among the Directorate’s top priorities in addressing breaches to the province’s security.
The two sides further discussed increasing efforts to create a healthy, conscious, and responsible academic environment that bolsters the intellectual security of students, faculty, and staff.
