University of Al-Hamdaniya Celebrates National Tree Planting Day
Al-Hamdaniya University commemorated National Tree Planting Day with an extensive ceremony featuring various activities and initiatives organized by its colleges, as well as its scientific and administrative departments. This celebration marks the official national occasion observed on March 12th of every year.
The event was inaugurated by the President of the University and representative of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Prof. Dr. Nashat Mubarak Saliwa. In his opening speech, Dr. Saliwa emphasized that Al-Hamdaniya University is fulfilling a national duty by actively addressing drought and expanding green spaces.
He further added that the university has been—and will continue—working toward achieving environmental development goals by creating an “eco-friendly academy” that contributes to improving the environment and enhancing air quality.
The launch of the National Day activities witnessed a significant academic presence from various universities across the governorate, alongside cultural and social figures. These participants joined Al-Hamdaniya University in supporting this national initiative, which aims to improve Iraq’s environment and transform its landscapes from drought to greenery.
