Al-Hamdaniya University Secures First Prize for Best Screenplay at Kirkuk Short Film Festival

Al-Hamdaniya University clinched the first prize for Best Screenplay at the Kirkuk Short Film Festival. Hosted by Al-Kitab University, the festival featured participants from over 40 public and private universities, competing for top honors over three days of screenings that showcased works by students of various academic levels and ages.

The President of the University, Prof. Dr. Nashat Mubarak Saliwa, received the winning screenwriters in his office—students from the Department of English whose work was supervised by Assistant Lecturer Muhannad Ramadan Safar. While extending his congratulations, Dr. Saliwa celebrated their achievement, stating: “The path to excellence is long; it begins in Al-Hamdaniya and does not stop at winning first-place awards.”

This victory falls within the university’s creative initiatives to sponsor gifted students and nurture their artistic, scientific, and cultural talents. Such efforts aim to propel them toward major competitions and secure a prominent standing among the country’s leading academic institutions.
