The President of the University of Al-Hamdaniya attended the meeting of the Opinion Committee at the headquarters of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, with the participation of committee members from the ministry’s senior leadership and presidents of public universities.
At the outset of the meeting, emphasis was placed on the importance of the quality track in developing higher education outcomes, keeping pace with international standards, and enhancing the academic reputation of university institutions. This is in addition to supporting the production of scientific research and its publication in international databases and repositories, while consolidating the principles of governance and improving institutional performance in line with the requirements of modern education.
During its fourth meeting, the Opinion Committee discussed several items on its agenda and voted on a series of decisions, most notably:
- Completing the scientific and logistical procedures related to the Ministerial Assessment Examination between public and private universities in various specializations, including medical, engineering, and administrative fields, for the academic year 2025–2026.
- Adopting a new mechanism for evaluating faculty members seconded to other ministries, starting from the academic year 2026–2027.
- Observing the legal powers authorized in making decisions to suspend official working hours at universities within the Iraqi provinces.
In conclusion, His Excellency the Minister—with the attendance of the President of the University of Al-Hamdaniya—stressed the necessity of enhancing community service through research programs and projects that align with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), contributing to the consolidation of the role of academic institutions in serving and developing society.
