Students Abroad Division

Vision and Goals: It aims to organize the transactions and paperwork of students sent on scholarships outside the country, submitting them to the competent authorities at the University of Al-Hamdaniya for authentication and approval.

Tasks:

First: Fellowships

  • Receiving fellowship letters from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and circulating them to the colleges after the Vice President for Scientific Affairs reviews them and issues the necessary directives.

  • Sending fellowship nominations to the Ministry after auditing the applicants’ files to ensure they meet the required instructions, controls, and conditions. These are discussed by a dedicated committee, and no-objection letters are subsequently granted to the candidates.

  • Completing the official procedures for candidates approved by the Ministry for inclusion in the fellowship and securing the necessary legal guarantees (sponsorships).

  • Following up on the issuance of university orders related to inclusion and dispatch to join the fellowship, as well as opening an academic file for them.

  • Following up on the dispatched student’s studies until they obtain their degree and return to Iraq.

  • Following up on rewarding the graduate, within the specified timeframe, with letters of thanks and appreciation alongside a financial reward.

Second: Scholarships

  • Receiving circulars delivered or announced by the Ministry on its official website regarding nominations for available scholarships. These are presented to the Vice President for Scientific Affairs and then circulated to the colleges and centers.

  • Receiving applicants’ files, auditing them, and discussing them through the University’s Committee for Granting Study Leaves, Scholarships, and Fellowships before submitting them to the Ministry. This also involves issuing university orders related to inclusion and dispatch to join the scholarship.

  • Following up on the dispatched students’ studies until they obtain their degree and return to Iraq.

Third: Study Leaves Outside Iraq

  • Receiving the Ministry’s circular or announcement regarding applications for study leaves via the Ministry’s website and circulating it to the colleges within the University of Al-Hamdaniya.

  • Receiving applicants’ nominations after they are discussed and reviewed by the councils of the colleges to which the candidates belong, and forwarding them to the university presidency.

  • Auditing and discussing the nominations by the University’s Study Leaves Committee. After their approval and endorsement by the University President, they are sent to the Ministry to obtain final authentication.

  • Auditing the admission obtained by the candidate to ensure the nominated specialization matches the needs of their affiliated college or center, as well as verifying the academic solidity of the host university.

Fourth: Prime Minister’s Scholarships

  • Applications for these scholarships are submitted directly by the affiliates. When an administrative order is issued by the Higher Committee for Education Development in Iraq to include an individual in the scholarship, the concerned person is required to obtain a no-objection clearance from their department. The college or center submits an official letter clearly stating its lack of objection to the candidate completing their studies to obtain the required degree, while specifying the specialization. The division then issues the necessary university order to dispatch them on the academic scholarship.

Fifth: Research Scholarships

  • Postgraduate students inside Iraq (Master’s or Ph.D.) who have completed their coursework stage and whose research requires conducting experiments that cannot be facilitated locally are entitled to apply. Accordingly, official approvals are obtained to dispatch them outside Iraq to complete their research for specific periods, in accordance with the Ministry’s approvals.
