Department of Scholarships and Cultural Relations

The Scholarships and Cultural Relations Department was established in 2016. It is one of the administrative departments at the Presidency of the University of Al-Hamdaniya and is administratively linked to the Vice President for Scientific Affairs. Since its establishment, the department has taken upon itself the responsibility of sustaining communication between the University of Al-Hamdaniya and other Iraqi, Arab, and international universities. It acts as a bridge of communication to various institutions by concluding numerous agreements and scientific twinnings.

Over the past years, the department has successfully enabled the university to keep pace with scientific and cultural development by sending faculty members abroad to complete their studies and obtain doctoral degrees in various specializations.

Goals: The department aims to establish scientific foundations that enhance development and advancement in the fields of science and knowledge, while developing human capabilities to keep pace with growing civilizations and flourishing sciences. This is achieved by organizing various events that contribute to the development of the university’s cadres. This ultimately serves the University of Al-Hamdaniya in particular, and the higher education sector in general, helping to build a civilized Iraq that flourishes with science and knowledge.

Additionally, the department aims to consolidate the pillars of culture, education, and continuous exchange with Arab and international countries. It seeks to attract, disseminate, and motivate university affiliates to explore and benefit from various academic and cultural fields. Furthermore, the department strives to provide the best study opportunities outside Iraq, conclude agreements with various universities based on solid scientific foundations, and participate in global scientific activities.

Tasks:

Receiving official letters and circulars from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research / Directorate of Scholarships and Cultural Relations via the Vice President for Scientific Affairs, referring them to the competent division, and following up on their implementation.
Following up on the nomination of university affiliates to participate in training courses, conferences, symposiums, workshops, etc. This involves coordinating with the Deans of the colleges, obtaining the necessary approvals for their nomination, and completing the administrative procedures for them to join these activities.
Consolidating the nominations of affiliates wishing to pursue postgraduate studies outside Iraq, presenting them to the Graduate Studies Committee at the university, and following up with them until they complete their studies and obtain their degrees.
Preparing, following up on, and implementing memorandums of understanding between the university and Arab and foreign universities and organizations.
Coordinating with external entities implementing these memorandums of understanding and following up on the execution of their programs.
Following up on and executing the activities of Arab and international unions and organizations of which the university is a member or with which it has scientific cooperation memorandums.
Participating in a number of committees both inside and outside the university.
