Translation and Consultation Unit

The Translation and Consultation Unit was established on November 5, 2023, pursuant to Administrative Order No. (2/2/2776) issued by the President of the University of Hamdaniya, Dr. Anis Yahya Hashim Al-Arajy, within the Central Library, and structurally reporting to the University President’s Office. The management of the unit was assigned to Ms. Dina Fahmi Kamel, Assistant Lecturer at the College of Education for Humanities / Department of English.

Driven by the University of Hamdaniya’s commitment to advancing academic research, this unit was established to foster a culture of excellence in international research publication. The unit works on providing an optimal environment that encourages faculty members and students to conduct diverse research in alignment with global standards that serve both the university and the local community. Furthermore, the unit was created to fill the existing gap in translation services based on requests from the teaching staff.

To enhance performance in the field of translation in accordance with international standards, thereby achieving excellence among local and international universities.

Mission

To provide an outstanding environment for faculty members to meet all their research translation needs and supply them with the required foreign references.

Objectives

  • Meeting the translation requirements of both the university and the teaching staff across all genres of translation.

  • Seeking partnerships with international universities to supply the Central Library with various types of foreign books across all academic disciplines.

  • Advancing academic research and publication in international repositories (indexing databases) by professionally translating the research papers of university staff.

  • Selecting outstanding graduation projects from final-year students to utilize and apply them in practical contexts.

  • Communicating with international universities to provide researchers with all necessary sources in their respective fields of specialization.

  • Structuring and organizing all foreign books both physically (print) and electronically for easy access.

Academic and Advisory Duties of the Unit

  • Performing all types of written translation from Arabic into English and vice versa.

  • The unit will collaborate with experienced PhD and Master’s degree holders from the same college or other universities specializing in various types of translation (legal, scientific, literary, commercial contracts, financial, personal status, etc.) to meet the demands of the university, teaching staff, and students.

  • The unit aims to provide all types of linguistic consultations in the English language and organize translation courses of all kinds for interested applicants from inside and outside the university.

  • The unit intends to certify all types of written translations issued by the office or received by it from private translation bureaus authorized by the Iraqi Translators Association.

  • The unit is fully capable of contracting with various government departments regarding translation work for draft contracts and international agreements.
