Al-Hamdaniya University Marks “Hope Day for Suicide Prevention” with Specialist-Led Symposium
With a symposium featuring workshops conducted by experts, Al-Hamdaniya University commemorated “Hope Day for Suicide Prevention,” serving as a reminder that self-inflicted loss of life remains a significant threat to public health priorities within society.
The President of the University, Prof. Dr. Nashat Mubarak Saliwa, inaugurated the event with a speech emphasizing that the university is proactive in fulfilling its social responsibility. He noted that the institution actively combats phenomena that threaten the social fabric and consistently collaborates with relevant departments and institutions to discuss challenges and formulate solutions.
Held on Monday morning, April 6, 2026, at the University Theater, the symposium featured a panel of legal experts, medical doctors, and officers from the Community Police. Each speaker addressed the issue from their respective professional lens, clarifying that dangerous phenomena—including suicide—pose a direct threat to social stability. They emphasized that combating such issues requires a collective effort from all relevant authorities, adding that the first step toward a solution begins with the responsibility of the individual and the family.
