Department of Graduate Studies Affairs

The establishment of the Postgraduate Studies Affairs Department dates back to the founding of the University of Al-Hamdaniya in 1435 AH / 2014 AD. It is one of the departments under the office of the Vice President for Scientific Affairs and is considered one of the most vital departments and fundamental pillars of the university. Its significance is highlighted through the work it accomplishes in following up with postgraduate students, as well as receiving and replying to numerous official letters from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, other ministries, and universities.

Vision: The department represents the vital link between the university’s departments and the Ministry to advance the level of postgraduate studies in a manner that serves the university, elevates its scientific standing, and manages all matters related to postgraduate studies at the institution.

Mission: To provide all departments, directorates, and centers with official letters containing instructions and laws related to postgraduate studies, as well as directives issued by the Ministry. The mission also includes resolving obstacles facing postgraduate students from their admission until they are awarded their degrees. This is achieved through close and fruitful cooperation with the Vice President for Scientific Affairs, heads of departments, scientific deputies, and postgraduate studies divisions, thereby forming a solid, integrated network.

Goals: The Postgraduate Studies Affairs Department aims to coordinate with other departments, directorates, and centers, acting as the connecting link between the university’s scientific departments, the University Presidency, and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

Administrative Tasks of the Department:

Establishing new postgraduate study programs (Higher Diploma / Master’s / Ph.D.).
Preparing and unifying the annual admission plan for postgraduate studies.
Supervising and reviewing academic leave requests for accreditation by the Ministry and obtaining official approvals.
Receiving and reviewing the files of applicants for postgraduate studies.
Issuing circulars and instructions related to postgraduate studies that are issued by the Ministry or the university.
Preparing the annual academic calendar for admitted students, following up on their academic status and continuation of studies, and canceling the admission of students who do not meet the regulations.
Continuously preparing comprehensive statistics regarding students in terms of (admission numbers, termination of enrollment, postponement of studies, extensions, and graduates).
Issuing university orders related to granting degrees to postgraduate students.
Receiving students and visitors wishing to apply, and following up on student complaints.
Archiving incoming and outgoing official letters, as well as university and administrative orders.
