Department of Construction and Projects

Like the other departments at the University of Al-Hamdaniya, the Department of Construction and Engineering Projects is newly established. It was founded alongside the university in 2014. In its early stages, the department’s workload was limited to routine maintenance work, as the construction of the university’s main buildings was assigned to the Construction Department at the University of Mosul due to their extensive experience and personnel resources.

Following the liberation of Nineveh Governorate in July 2017, the University of Al-Hamdaniya returned to its original sites in the Nineveh Plains. Consequently, a new organizational structure was established for the university—including the Department of Construction and Projects—and new engineering staff were recruited. This team took on the responsibility of reconstructing the university buildings that had sustained damage due to military operations.

Following the visit of Prime Minister Dr. Haider al-Abadi to the Nineveh Plains and his participation in the Peaceful Coexistence Conference on March 14, 2018, His Excellency promised to direct the reconstruction of the University of Al-Hamdaniya’s buildings. Accordingly, the engineering teams prepared an integrated construction plan and budget, which is currently awaiting the official green light to commence.
